"Homeless Village" Poverty Awareness Event
On October 21, 2011, fifteen individuals signed up to participate in the Homeless Village 24-hour challenge.  Participants included a pastor, a reporter, a retiree, some business owners, a married couple, a minister of music, youth ministers, a college student, a college instructor, and 12 year old twins. A former homeless man was their mentor to guide them through the experience.

The public was invited to view the homeless village between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday, October 2.  Our hosts, Garry & Donna Phelps, served home-made soup while event participants led a discussion at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 22, which the public was invited to attend.

Rachel Miller wrote some wonderful articles in the Brunswick Beacon!
