Brunswick Family Assistance Agency and the Brunswick County Literacy Council operate a thrift store in Shallotte called Family Thrift. Family Thrift generates funds that help sustain both BFAA and the Literacy Council's programs. The store relies on volunteers to work with Melissa Patterson, store manager, to make this endeavor a success. It is with these proceeds that we can continue to provide assistance to the low-income residents of Brunswick County, as well as those adults in need of basic education, English as a second language, GED preparation and other tutoring programs.
